ME6004 syllabus is here. This post also covers the Lecture notes (Prepared By Mr.S.Senthil kumar, AP/Mech of the Unconventional Machining processes(Elective Paper for semester VI) Unit 1 Introduction. Take for your reference and try to get more marks in university examinations.

ANNA UNIVERSITY CHENNAI
REGULATION 2013
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

ME6004 UNCONVENTIONAL MACHINING PROCESSES

UNIT 1           INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Conventional machining process

Metal is removed by means of tool which is harder than work piece and they both are in contact with each other.

Demerits of conventional machining process

(i)Disposal and recycling of the chips are difficult and tedious process

(ii)        Large cutting forces are involved in this process

NEED FOR UCM

Unconventional manufacturing process
Unconventional machining process
Unconventional forming process
Need for unconventional machining process

(i)Harder and difficult to machine materials

(ii)Can be machined easily and precisely

CLASSIFICATION OF UCM
 Classification of UCM

(i)Based on type of energy required to shape the material

Thermal energy methods
Electrical energy methods
Electro chemical energy methods
Chemical energy methods
Mechanical energy methods

(ii)Based on mechanisms involved

erosion
Ionic dissolution
vaporization

(iii) Based on the source of energy required for material removal

Hydro static pressure
High current density
High voltage
Ionized material

(iv)Based on medium of transfer of energies

High voltage particles
Electrolyte
Electron
Hot gases

Process Selection

Points to be considered for correct selection of UCM are

(i)Physical parameters

(ii)Shapes to be machined

(iii)Process capability or machining characteristics

(iv)Economic consideration

Advantages of UCM

(i)Increases productivity
(ii)Reduces no. of rejected components
(iii)Close tolerance is possible
(iv)Toll material need not be harder than work piece
(v)Machined surface does not have residual stress

Limitations of UCM

(i)More expensive
(ii)Manufacturing cost is slow

Here the syllabus of the subject Unconventional Machining Processes.

ME6604 Gas Dynamics and Jet propulsion course plan

The Lecture plan of Gas Dynamics and Propulsion,Regulation 2013 is given for the Mechanical Engineering from Anna University,Chennai.

This is the one of the Problematic papers in VIth Semester of BE-Mechanical Engineering. For the syllabus coverage, you can handled more special classes for the even semester because of number of working days are less compared to odd semester
