 (Part B -16 Marks- questions)

1.Explain   with   a  neat   diagram   the   construction   and   working  principle  of heterodyne  laser   interferometer.  
                                                            
2.Briefly  explain  the  constructional   features of Co-ordinate  Measuring  Machine Compare moving bridge   and  moving  table  CMM. 

3.Explain  the  principle  of Machine Vision system.

4.Write   a  short   note  on Computer Aided Inspection.

5.Explain  the  construction  and  working of a  laser   Telemetricsystem   with   a neat   sketch.

6.Explain the construction  and  working of  various bridge   type  Co-ordinate Measuring   Machines.

7.With a neat sketch explain the working of laser interferometer.

8.Describe the construction and operation of a coordinate measuring machine.
State the advantages of CMM.

9.Explain  the  working  of A.C.  laser   interferometer   and   how  it  is  used   for length   of travel   and  angular   variation  measurement?

10.How   are   the  pitch   and   roll errors  in  Z-axis of  a  VMC  measured  using laser  interferometer?



UNIT-IV     FORM MEASUREMENT
 (Part B -16 Marks- questions) 

1.Describe  with    neat sketch    the  measurement  of  pitch of  internal and  external  screw  threads    using   a pitch  measuring  machine.   
         
2.Explain  the   constant  cord  method   of measuring   the   tooth   thickness  in   gears.  
                                                                                                       
3.Explain    with   suitable  sketches  the   measurement    of  straightness   using  autocollimator.

4.Explain   the   method    for  measuring  effective  diameter  of  internal  screw threads.

5.How  is  the  involute  profile of gear  tooth   inspected?

6.Define straightness  and  how  is  it measured?

7.Describe  any  one electronic type surface roughness measuring instrument.

8.Explain   the   following  tooth   thickness  measurement.
(i) Constant  Chord  method       (ii) Chordal Thickness  method.

9.Briefly explain the  step by  step procedure for determining the flatness of a surface with a neat   sketch.
                                                  
10.With a neat sketch, describe the construction and working of a  profilometer.

11.Derive the formula for measuring the effective diameter of a screw thread by three-wire method.

12.Explain in detail Riundness testiing machine.



UNIT-V    MEASUREMENT OF POWER,FLOW AND TEMPERATURE
 (Part B -16 Marks- questions) 

1.Discuss the  applications  of pneumatic  comparator.   

2.Explain, with a sketch, the construction and working of Solex Pneumatic Comparator.

3.Explain   with    a   neat    sketch     the   construction  and    of  working   Sigma  compators. 

4.Describe   the  following  in  connection  with  pressure    measurement :
 (i) Piezo-electric   pressure  transducer.     (ii) Variable  capacitance   transducer.

5.Describe   with  neat   sketches:
(i) Thermocouples.          (ii) Strain   gauge   torque   meter.

6.Explain    how     the     Pneumatic     comparator    works     and     briefly enumerate   the   advantages   of Differential   Pneumatic   Comparator.

7.(i)Explain  the construction   and  working   of a Venturimeter.  
(ii)Explain  the construction and  working  of a Rotometer.

8.With  a neat  sketch explain how   bimetallic  strips  are  used  for temperature  measurements.

9.Explain the working  and  purpose  of    electrical  resistance thermisters.

10.Explain the principle of operation of Bourdon tube pressure gauge.

11.Explain the working of a rotameter with a neat sketch.

12.Discuss the operation of a pneumatic comparator.
