For Mechanical, Production, Automobile Engineers must know about the working principle of an Engine. How does combustion takes place. For that I have post the working of four stroke diesel engine which may be easy to understand.
UNIT II INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
UNIT II INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
Classification - Components and their function. Valve timing diagram and port timing diagram - actual and theoretical p-V diagram of four stroke and two stroke engines. Simple and complete Carburettor. MPFI, Diesel pump and injector system. Battery and Magneto Ignition System - Principles of Combustion and knocking in SI and CI Engines. Lubrication and Cooling systems. Performance calculation.
I hope you can better understand about first (suction ) stroke, Now let us go to understand about other three strokes. |
The compression stroke schematic diagram is shown in below figure. |
The following exhaust stroke is the final stroke of an engine. Here the exhaust emission such as NOx, CO, CO2, Ash content were released through the exhaust line or silencer. |
The Power and exhaust strokes schematic diagram is shown in figure. |
This is the working principle of four stroke diesel engine. I hope this post is more useful to you. For all subjects study materials - see the left side of this page.
