OBJECTIVES:To understand the construction and working principle of various parts of an automobile.
To have the practice for assembling and dismantling of engine parts and transmission system.
The syllabus of unit 1 is given below.
UNIT I VEHICLE STRUCTURE AND ENGINES
CONTENTS:
- Types of automobiles,
- vehicle construction and different layouts,
- chassis, frame and body,
- Vehicle aerodynamics (various resistances and moments involved),
- IC engines –components, functions and materials,
- variable valve timing (VVT).
The Engine components, functions of each components and type of materials used for the engine components is discussed from the following images.
Define IC Engine Applications of IC Engine and Examples for an Engine is given below.
Here, What are the basic components are used and functions of the components is listed.
This will be easy to understand the function of the Engine components.
The Schematic diagram of the Engine is shown in figure with various parts.
Here the table shows that the engines parts, materials and methods of production is shown.
